Over The Cities Of Israel

Just compare the instructions of Christ for the great commission before the start of tribulation and after it has taken hold.

Luk 10:1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
Luk 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
Luk 10:3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
Luk 10:4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
Luk 10:5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
Luk 10:6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
Luk 10:7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
Luk 10:8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
Luk 10:9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
Luk 10:10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
Luk 10:11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. (KJV)

And the following which is Christ's propecy of that tribulation beginning; culminating in the failure to make sure converts in every city of Israel. (Under tribulation there would be persecution.)

Mat 10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
Mat 10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
Mat 10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Mat 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. (KJV)

Notice the differences?

Christ taught His disciples not to go from house to house but to make one convert in each town only. the "Son of peace" as He put it.That convert was indicated by the Holy Spirit and was the only convert to be made in a town. If the town did not have one single candidate for the "son of peace" then the disciples could leave the town without making a single convert, brushing off the dust of their feet, leaving the town cursed for their lack of faith.

The results of not obeying His instructions are shown in great tribulation as described in the second passage. Instead of planting a church seed amongst those who would spread the word quietly and soberly amongst their family and friends, the disciples preached in the streets and the synagogues and brought persecution upon themselves. It is woeful that Christ would state His great caveat that they would not have made a single convert in every town of Israel before His second coming.. they had simply gone about it all their own way.

So, today, is it too late to go back and apply God's word? I dare say no,... but I am not myself gifted with the gift of the Holy Spirit that will seek out these converts. I have asked and tried and I discern no difference before, during or after. That stated, nobody has come to my door as if welcome with the word of God on their lips (besides the JW's who trust more in their tracts than the scripture) and so I deem this town to be low on the word of God all in all. You may have guessed I am no churchgoer - well, I had to leave for my own peace! None come to me, I daresay I have had my marching orders for a good enough reason not to look back.
